Way back in 1991 Jim started his radio career on Ayr Hospital Radio, soon moving to help a friend on the phones at west sound radio. It was here he quickly moved from phones to co presenting with the late Colin Hillis.
This was in the days before West FM when it was decided to split west sound and make west FM.
Colin and Jim were asked to stay on at west sound and bring back a Scottish show, so the west sound ceilidh started peaking with over 300.000 listeners ever Saturday.
In 2000 it was time to move on, both Jim and Colin left and with Colin a dear friend and work colleague going to be news reporter in Thailand. Colin died suddenly.
Jim carried on with his own Business Recently being featured on TV.
Jim was involved in a couple of short-term radio stations (RSLs) then joining a struggling community station in Irvine. It was there he created a phenomenally successful ceilidh show lasting 5years.
After this he moved to TV doing live at 5 then joining BBC with a new tv reality show called mirror mirror.
Now Jim is very much looking forward to bringing his vast knowledge and talent to Ayrshire online radio with the new ceilidh every Friday night with a few surprises on the way.
